Is Mike a qualified coach?
Yes, Mike Gratton is a qualified UK athletics running coach.
I'm based outside the UK can I still join?
Is one-to-one online running coaching the same as personal training?
No, with Run Your Best Race, you’ll get exclusive access to advice from London Marathon winner, Mike Gratton, and a personalised plan that you follow yourself. You’ll also be able to ask his advice during your training block.
How does the Run Your Best Race process work?
The process begins with a simple onboarding questionnaire, giving Mike valuable insights into your goals and abilities ahead of your kickoff call.
Once completed, you’ll schedule a one-hour call with Mike, where you’ll dive into your running aspirations and address any past challenges or obstacles.
Within 2 to 5 days after your call, you’ll receive a customised training plan tailored to your needs (either via the Final Surge App or a PDF), ready for you to put into action. From there, you’ll have unlimited access to Coach Mike for questions via our private messaging service or WhatsApp. You can also request follow-up video calls to stay on track and refine your progress. Each month, we’ll send you a review questionnaire to assess your progress.
Mike’s support continues as long as your subscription is active, providing guidance to help you plan and train for multiple events throughout the year. He will ensure you can progress effectively while recovering properly after each race.
What if I get injured or sick during the training block?
Mike will collaborate with you to adjust your training regimen, which may involve taking a brief break or reducing the intensity of your efforts.
It you are facing a long lay off from running, you have the option to cancel at any time.
Will my plan include other forms of training?
The plan will focus solely on running, but we highly recommend you complement your running training with weight/strength training, spinning, yoga or Pilates. This will be covered in our regular calls with you.
